The Eldoret hospital dialysis unit provides specialized services for patients with both acute kidney disease (AKD) and chronic kidney disease (CKD).
The unit was established in 2010 and has two modern Nipro Haemodialysis machine. The unit serves patients from the larger East Africa region of which majority are from Rift Valley, Nyanza and Western provinces of Kenya and Eastern part of Uganda.
All patients who require haemodialysis in the facility are done through screening prior to any services to minimize any chance of contamination and cross infection of any transmittable diseases.
The major diseases which are screened are HIV and hepatitis B and C. Patients found to be having these diseases are provided with alternative ways of dialysis i.e. peritoneal dialysis as majority are referred to other centers that have isolated machines for special cases. We attend to patients from 10yrs and above.
The unit is operated by specialized well trained personnel who are able to manage both simple and complicated cases with two renal consultants. The hospital has plans of expanding the unit to cater for many patients and also patients with specialized cases.
Currently the unit provides regular services to 25 patients on haemodialysis. We provide both in-patient and out-patient services at a very friendly cost because healthy living is our priority. The services are available every day, any time of the day as condition of the patient dictates.
